Gallery Note from Curator:

Welcome to Abstract Catalyst 9! It is an honor to share this compelling collection with you.

This is the 9th Edition of an always crisp and eclectic show. Verum does not produce Abstract Catalyst every year, so it is an intermittent occurrence that always brings something fresh!

This collection pops with line, color, form, shape, and more! It embraces the full spectrum of the rainbow with grounding notes of earth tones to break the sweet spell of a color rush. The warm blush of summer lingers with color-fields of orange and cotton candy pinks bump up against the subtle fall-like neutrals. As you peruse the collection, you will notice the vast display of color, tone, and intensities. Please also watch out for the different surface textures and recognize how artists use edges in different ways (some in architectural ways, others with a fluid-organic process, and some with bold linear displays).  Edges matter here. Views from different vantage points alter perspectives as the works layer and stack to create new interactions and obscure edges, too.

The 32 selected artists use a wide array of materials to express unique creations, including, but not limited to: motion activated sculpture, over 90 layers of precise and detailed hand cut paper, ceramic works that look like ancient metal relics unearthed from a shipwreck, resin popsicles, stained glass, glass, metallic pigments, steel, wood, beadwork, and much more!

My hope is that you will explore these works individually, but also take in the vignettes and the wide interplay that make this collection vibrate with energy!

I hope you enjoy this abstract catalyst..it truly is its namesake!
