Call for ART:
TREE II
Breath of Humanity
Verum Ultimum Gallery first introduced the theme "TREE: Breath of Humanity" in 2024 and it proved to be a beloved catalyst for expression. Verum is thrilled to once again invite artists to interpret the theme "Tree," for the second edition of this theme and the boundless notions this one word conjures. This exhibit is set to be an exploration of this infinite source with endless possible interpretations. Please note that this years edition will be online only. TREE II will be featured in Verum's Virtual 3D Gallery, on the Verum Ultimum website, in an exhibition book, blogposts, and through social media coverage.
Trees are essential to all life and are the essence of expansion (intrinsic to every breath). They are symbolic of growth, connection, community, spirit, air, family, and more. Artists are encouraged to enter work that is any interpretation of the theme. The intention of the call is not to drive the work or to exclusively exhibit depictions of trees, but to spark an impetus to discover unique visions. Artists may (of course) elect to depict trees, forest, woods, and the sky, but exploration of the idea of tree as a metaphor is also encouraged. Thus, submissions do not necessarily have to include actual trees, for example lungs could symbolize trees, the sky could infer the air we breathe, an abstract work might reflect interconnection (patterns and networks), and so on.
ALL MEDIUMS and genres are welcome (from abstraction, expressionism, realistic, surrealistic, fantastical, illustrative and beyond). This call emphasizes the idea of growth, expansion, breath, and humanity.
(Exhibition will open in June of 2026)
Considerations about this provocative original VERUM theme continue below:
What does the word tree conjure for you?
Is your work linked to a continuum of growth and/or sustenance?
Do you get lost in a forest or network of ideas rooted deep in your imagination?
Perhaps you honor nature or a spiritual or poetic connection through your work.
Is there an interconnection or materiality to your work that lines up with nature directly?
Perhaps you already explore a connection between tree, nature, and humanity through your work.
What role does nature play in your work?
Or perhaps you see the theme as a chance to express tree as a metaphor for (or reflection of) life itself & its relationship to this driving force?
Verum Ultimum is thrilled to once again celebrate the most elemental grounding presence rooted in every breath (trees)...
Lungs, growth, and the embodiment of life!
